Nice Buns - our top five Party Bun looks for Christmas 2020
Often under-rated but an easy style that's quick to apply with maximum impact, the humble bun! Even easier to create with our Instant Clip-On Top Knot, we pull together our favourite bun looks for this seasons parties.
1. The Big Bun
Our inspiration for this look is none other than bun supremo Jennifer Lopez. Go big or go home with this sultry slicked back bun. Pull Hair back into a high ponytail, (if you have longer hair, take a section of your own hair and pin to one side out of the way for the moment.) Apply your Instant Bun, pull the drawstring tight and secure with grips. Ruffle the hair on the Instant Bun, gently backcombing sections with a backcombing brush to add extra volume, then gently smooth the top layer before securing all loose hairs with hairspray. For those of you with longer hair, you can now wrap the section of hair you previously pinned out the way, around the Instant Top Knot, securing with grips and adding a final spritz of spray.
Tools required:
- A comb (our Backcombing Hairbrush is perfect for this)
- Some hairspray (we love Living Proof Flex Hair Spray)
- A hairband
- Kirby Grips
- Instant Bun / Top Knot

2. The Accessorized Bun
Gorgeous Jessica Alba goes one step further and add's a 60's twist to her bun with a simple black headband. We've also seen this style dome with thin bands of gold leather (very grecian) and vintage lace for a bohemian twist. Pull Hair back into a high ponytail and secure with a hairband. Apply your Instant Bun, pull the drawstring tight and secure with grips. Ruffle the hair on the Instant Bun, gently backcombing sections with a backcombing brush to add extra volume, then gently smooth the top layer before securing all loose hairs with grips and a spritz of hairspray.

3. The Faux Fringe Bun
No fringe? No problem, with this cute fringe hack. This Rihanna inspired bun with bangs can be created in five minutes. Pull hair into a ponytail and secure with a hairband. Pull loose some tendrils of hair around your forehead. Now split your own ponytail into two horizontally. Pin the back section into a bun and pull the front section down over your face. Split the section in front of your face into two and gently cross them over and pin in place to create a centre parting. Shape to create a fringe and spray to hold in place, then attach your Instant Bun. Pull the drawstring tight and secure with grips. Before adding a final spray of hairspray.

4. The Edgy Buns
This brings a whole new level of bun accessorizing and we love it! You can go with the sharply styled safety pin look, or alternatively add flowers or even jewels to add a stylish edge to the classic space bun look. Section your hair into bunches and secure with hairbands. Loosen tendrils of hair around your face and at the nape of your neck. Tie each ponytail into a bun and secure with grips. Attach each Instant Bun to create space buns and secure the drawstring to hold each bun in place. Use grips to secure any loose hair around each bun and decorate with pins, flowers, jewellery or even glitter spray. Add a spritz of hairspray to held in pace and you are ready to dance the night away.

5. Half Up Bun
Our last bun style inspiration comes from super cute Selena Gomez. This half up half down do has been around for a few years, but never goes out of style and is the perfect party hairstyle when you haven't had time to style your hair. Dry shampoo is your best friend for this one! Spray dry shampoo through hair and if you are combining this look with your hair extensions for extra volume and length, add your extensions now. Then take a front section and tie into a french ponytail. As a general rule, line your sections up with the outer edge of your eyes for a wide section. Twist your ponytail into a bun and secure with grips, then add your Instant Bun. Secure with the drawstring. Ruffle the bun slightly (you can even add a little backcombing here) then secure any loose hairs of the bun with grips. Now either spray the rest of your hair or add additional styling such as curls or waves to your own hair and extensions, before finishing off with some volume and texturising spray.
